The Board/Variant randomizer can be found on the Boards/Variants selector screen for a new play. On a New Play page tap Play Details –> “No board/variant set” under the header Boards/Variants.
Tap the randomize icon
to display a dropdown menu with the following options:
- Any Board/Variant: select a random Board/Variant out of all Boards/Variants.
- From selected Boards/Variants: select a random Board/Variant from the currently selected Boards/Variants. Only enabled if Boards/Variants are selected.
A randomly selected Board/Variant with these options replaces any currently selected Boards/Variants.
- Additional Board/Variant: Only visible if at least one Board/Variant is selected. Select an additional random Board/Variant.
Selecting a Board/Variant from a subset of existing Boards/Variants
With the ‘From selected Boards/Variants’ option you can quickly let the app choose between a couple of Boards/Variants that you select first. This is useful e.g. when you want to make sure one of the lesser used Boards/Variants is chosen or when you can’t choose between your favourites.
Grouping prefixes
If some or all of your Board/Variant names have repeating prefixes, like ‘Map‘ or ‘End game‘ the randomizer will recognize this and add these prefixes as submenus to the dropdown menu. The number of times these prefixes are used will be added between parenthesis.
Opening that submenu will offer you the option to let the app select ‘Any Board/Variant‘ or an ‘Additional Board/Variant‘ from just the roles with that prefix.
Prefixes are recognized by the first words of each Board/Variant; as soon as a prefix occurs 3 or more times it is added to the menu, removing dashes and colons.
Any Board/Variant
If you use this option, the newly random selected Board/Variant will replace any already selected Board/Variant with this prefix. Any selected Boards/Variants without this prefix will not be affected.
Additional Board/Variant
This option will choose an additional Board/Variant with this prefix.
