From version 6.0 it is possible to create your own Avatars in the app!

Multiple talented artists created sets of illustrations you can use together with a background colour and a shape to create a unique Avatar for you and other Players in the app.

Select your own Avatar, (optionally) receive your friends Avatars when they share plays, or create sets of Avatars with the same background colour or shape for different game groups!

How to set an Avatar

An Avatar can be set on a Players page:

  • Tap “Edit“
  • Tap “Change image…“
  • Tap “Edit Avatar“

Alternatively, if you have already set an avatar previously, you can:

  • Tap that avatar on a Player page and tap “Edit” in the top right corner
  • Tap on the Avatar when you are on the Edit Player page.

You will now see the Avatar creation page, here you can set three options: an Illustration, a Background and a Shape.

At the top of the page you will see a preview of the Avatar you are creating.

Illustration

Here you can select an illustration from one of the artists. The illustrations are grouped by artist.

Tap an illustration to select it.

The artists will be shown in random order. If you have previously created an avatar, the artist of that chosen avatar will be at the top.

You can tap on the “About” link to get more information about this artist.

Board Game Stats Avatars

At the bottom of the Illustration list you can select the Board Game Stats Avatars: Player, Non-player & Anonymous.

To create an Avatar with no illustration, select the None (cross) option.

Background

Here you can choose a background colour for your Avatar.

Tap any of the available colours to select it. To adjust the brightness, tap one of the four options in the selector above the colour grid.

Not all colours will work well with every illustration, so try a few to find a colour that fits best for your avatar.

Shape

Here you can choose a shape for your Avatar.

Tap one of the available shapes to select it.

Changing multiple Avatars

It is possible to change multiple Avatars at the same time, with Multiple Select.

The options are:

  • Set Illustration…: changes the illustration for all selected Players
  • Set Background…: changes the Background for all selected Players
  • Set Shape…: changes the Shape for all selected Players
  • Delete Avatar…: deletes the Avatar for all selected Players

Deleting Avatars

To go back to the default avatar for a player you can delete an avatar on a Players page:

  • Tap “Edit“
  • Tap “Change image…“
  • Tap “Delete“

This will delete an avatar or an uploaded player image.

Plays list

The Plays list can now show avatars (and player images) for the Players or the winners for every play.

Options

Tap the Gear icon on the top right of the list. The following options are available:

  • None: no avatars/player images are shown. If selected, the “Last play” on the Overview page will also not show avatars/player images.
  • Winner(s): only the winner(s) of a play are shown. For coop games this could be the game (box cover).
  • All Players: avatars/player images are shown for every player in a play.

Default avatar
  • Use Random Color: if enabled the default avatar for all players without an assigned avatar will get a random color.
Avatar display
  • Plays list: same as Plays list options
  • Overview screen: if enabled will show avatars in the Last play
  • Play Overview screen: if enabled will show avatars on a Play Overview
  • Edit Play screen: if enabled will show avatars on a Edit Play screen

Receiving Avatars

When you import one or more plays you’ve received through a QR-code or a Play file, you will be taken to the Matching screen.

On the Matching screen an option for Avatars is available. For every player in the plays you will now get the option to import the senders Avatar (if available) into your app. You can do this for new players in your app, and also for existing players.

Please note: no player images will be shared like this, only avatars.

FAQ

  • Can you add more illustrations/background colours/shapes?

More illustrations/background colours/shapes will be added in the future.

  • Can I add my own image?

It is not possible on the Avatar creator page to add your own image instead of the available illustrations. You can still always set your own picture by choosing “Copy Library Image” or “Take a Picture” when you select to change a Players image.

  • I have set my own picture, can I set a shape?

It is not possible to set a shape for a picture, this is only available on the Avatar creator page.

  • Can my Avatar be shown in … spot in the app?

We will be adding avatars in more places in the app.

  • I want to make Avatars for the app

Great! We want to add new sets of avatars to the app regularly. If you’re an artist and you want to apply, please send us some background info about you, a link to your portfolio, and an estimation of your fee for 5 to 15 avatars. You can do so via our Contact form.
